First American eAppraiseIT is in compliance with the Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC).
First American eAppraiseIT values our appraiser’s services and maintains a panel of appraisers
committed to providing quality reports and professional service. Service expectations include, delivery of
quality reports in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate communication, and conducting business in a
professional manner and in compliance with all applicable laws and guidelines. In the event that an
appraiser on our panel is not able to meet our service expectations, corrective action may be necessary.
First American eAppraiseIT has a “three strike” process that is used to provide corrective action. If an
appraiser is issued three strikes in any consecutive 12 month time frame, they face removal from our
panel. There are also instances that may require immediate removal from our panel, regardless the
number of strikes issued.
All service and quality concerns are researched by our Panel Management department. If the Panel
Management department determines that a strike or removal is warranted, a request is sent to a team of
managers who reviews the incidents and determines if corrective action in the form of a strike or removal
should be issued against an appraiser. If it is determined that a strike or removal is warranted, the
appraiser is notified in writing by our Panel Management Department in compliance with the HVCC.
First American eAppraiseIT receives and maintains client exclusionary lists of disapproved appraisers,
and requests from clients to remove appraisers from receiving their work. In the event a client requests an
appraiser’s removal, our Panel Management department will update our system to prevent these
appraisers from receiving that client’s work; provided it is understood and agreed that the client
requesting exclusion of an appraiser is fully HVCC compliant and that the client maintains responsibility
for all notifications to the appraiser as required by the Code.
Strikes and/or Removals by First American eAppraiseIT may be issued for, but not limited to the following
reasons:
• Violation of applicable law
• Quality errors in an appraisal report
• Delivering a fraudulent or misleading and/or non-credible appraisal report
• Poor appraisal service performance including delayed turn times and lack of communication
• Unethical, improper or unprofessional conduct towards borrowers, First American eAppraiseIT
staff, and/or contact persons
• Bona fide administrative reasons based on written, management-approved policies
Furthermore, if we remove an appraiser from our panel for misrepresentation, fraud, gross negligence, or
unethical behavior, First American eAppraiseIT will provide notification to the appropriate state board.
It is incumbent upon the appraiser to notify First American eAppraiseIT immediately by contacting our
Undue Influence Hotline if any undue influence or appraiser pressure is experienced.
