Here’s my experience on this. There are a couple of different reasons for asking this question. If the LO is reputable, he is trying to get a sense of how much diligence is going into your reports. Are you a Wal-Mart appraiser, or a Nordstrom app...

Michael: I have worked for both of these companies in the past. Where do you find this legal jargon in their agreements. Can a person find this somewhere? I do not remember that in my agreement, but I signed on with them several years ago. Thank...

I tell them the lender doesn't like me to say, but their lender will call them within a few days and tell them the results of the appraisal. When I tell them their lender has me on a short leash, they usually laugh.

It isn't uncommon that, after I have walked the property, the borrower will ask, "So, what da-ya think?" "About what?" "What da-ya think it's worth?" "Oh, gosh, I have no idea! I'm not thinking about value at all! What I'm doing here, now, is '...

What Do You Say?

I have always wanted a quick and clever response to those rude borrowers who ask, "How Many of these appraisals do you do in one day?" Of course they are trying to determine just how much money we make. They think the entire appraisal process takes the 30-60 minutes that they see us on site.

How about it fellow appraiser. What's you best response?

Thanks!
